Indian boy cheats death after being impaled by four foot steel rod (graphic)

Indian boy cheats death after being impaled by four foot steel rod (graphic)

For 10-year-old Aman Vishwakarma from Uttar Pradesh, India, his terrifying brush with death could be described as nothing less than a miracle. The youngster cheated death when he fell off 12ft off a roof and got impaled by a 4ft metal rod. The rod entered his body at the thigh and exited through the back. Incredibly, it missed all vital organs and only grazed his spine. The pics might be a bit graphic for some so viewer discretion advised as you continue...

Doctors worked for four hours to remove the rod without causing permanent damage. It had torn a major blood vessel, pierced his bowel and diaphram, grazed his spine and possibly ruptured his lungs - causing two litres of blood to build up in his abdomen.

Recalling his death-defying fall, Aman told of how he was laying mud onto the roof of his family home when the structure collapsed. He screamed in agony as he fell on the exposed spike which was fixed to a concrete block – as neighbours rushed to help him to the nearby Narayan Swaroop Hospital.

His mother Kamla Devi, 30, collapsed when she saw him lying on the ground with the spike protruding from his body.

Kamla said: 'They took me to the hospital to see my son. I had completely given up on his chances of survival. So I couldn't believe when the doctor told me he was alive.'

She added: 'It's a miracle. It's no exaggeration to compare the doctors with gods. If not gods, they are god-sent to us.'

It took a team of six hospital staff to remove the rod from the small boy without permanently damaging major blood vessels and organs.

Dr Rajeev Singh, the 'hero' surgeon who operated on Aman, said he believed before the operation that saving him was 'practically impossible'.

'His condition was very critical,' Dr Singh said. 'His blood pressure was zero. If the patient was not operated within hours of accident, he could collapsed.'

Aman, who now uses a colostomy bag, has not been able play his beloved cricket or go to school since the accident in October.

According to a British doctor, the boy had been 'millimetres' from death – and now faces a lifetime of medical complications.

Dr Arun Ghosh said: 'I think it's pure luck that he survived.
'Obviously the doctor's did an excellent job but most of the time, when people are impaled, they will die instantly or soon after from bleeding. It would have taken major and complex surgery to save him. You'd have needed a vascular surgeon, a respiratory surgeon, a neurosurgeon, and they would have to be at the top of their game.

'I'm not sure we would be able to get such a major trauma team together on such short notice.
'The spinal damage could mean he suffers from erectile dysfunction, pins and needles in his hands and feet, a lack of coordination and possibly even loss of bladder function.

'Spinal damage - very close to the areas to the top of his spine - could cause feeling, erectile dysfunction, again bladder function, pins and needles in the hands and feet, lack of coordination.
'Because it entered near his anus, he's definitely not going to be able to go to the toilet normally for a very long time, and he'll probably need a colostomy bag to pee.

'Walking is going to be a problem in the short term and because of his damage lungs, he never going to be able to run a marathon.
'He will have some life long problems but really, he survived something he should have died from.'

Terrorists now hide IEDS among vegetables- Nigerian Army

Terrorists now hide IEDS among vegetables- Nigerian Army

The Defence Headquarter has revealed the new tactics devised by Boko Haram terrorists to hide explosives.

In a statement released on Thursday, January 14, the acting Director Defence Information, Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar said this is a continuation with the sensitization of our citizens on the devilish strategy of the terrorists.
"The Nigerian Military authorities have discovered that the Boko Haram terrorists are determined to continue letting off bombs and have resorted to masquerading as fruits and vegetable vendors wheeling Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) as groceries into crowded areas,"
"The terrorists now hide IEDs under vegetable wares in carts and wheelbarrows and move to crowded places where they detonate them for maximum casualties. The recent terrorists attack in the North East is a case in point.
''Having been effectively dislodged and decimated the BH terror group has begun some systematic isolated attacks mainly on soft targets in their desperation to remain relevant''.
The statement therefore advised Nigerians to be constantly on alert.
"Defence Headquarters hereby advises the general public to constantly be alert to this latest terrorist tactics and to report promptly any suspicious persons or objects to the nearest security agency,"
"While commending the general public and the media for their continuous support so far, all citizens are once again reminded that security is everybody’s concern therefore, they should join hands with the security agencies to eliminate the remnant of the terrorists."

Dad fatally shoots son he mistook for an intruder

Dad fatally shoots son he mistook for an intruder

An armed man who believed he was confronting an intruder in the basement of his home Tuesday morning instead fatally shot his 14-year-old son, who was supposed to be on his way to school, police said.
Police said the teen had headed to the bus stop but apparently came back home through a back door. The man said he heard a noise in the basement. Police said when the father opened a door within the basement, the boy appeared.

"He scared me!" the distraught father said in his 911 call shortly before 6:30 a.m. "I thought he was in school. I heard noise, so I went downstairs looking and he jumped out at me. .... Oh, God. Get here quick!"
The man told police he accidentally shot his son with a .45-caliber handgun. After initially telling the 911 dispatcher the boy was hit in the chest, he then said it was in the neck. The dispatcher told him to put the gun on the kitchen counter, then talked him through first aid steps and tried to calm him until police and emergency vehicles arrived.

The boy died at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Police identified him as Georta Mack. They didn't immediately release the name of the father, who's heard in the tape repeatedly shouting, "Oh, God, please hurry! Oh, God!"
Police officials said the Hamilton County prosecutor's office will decide whether there should be any charges against the father.
"These types of tragedies are so horrific, they're even unimaginable," Police Chief Eliot Isaac told reporters.
A police officer at the scene told reporters that the boy had apparently decided he wasn't going to school and returned home through the back door.

Cincinnati has made reducing gun violence a top priority for 2016. Isaac said the shooting Tuesday underscored some important messages.

He said those who have guns in their homes should get training and make sure the weapons are kept secured.
Referring to indications the boy had planned to skip school, Isaac said children should "tell the truth: make sure your parents know where you are, absolutely."

Top Mobil Engineer alleged to have raped a 14 year old girl in Lagos

Top Mobil Engineer alleged to have raped a 14 year old girl in Lagos

This is a press statement from Women Association of The Good People on an alleged rape committed by a top Exxon Mobil engineer. His name and photos was sent in but we will leave that out for now until we get a confirmation from the police. Read story below..
On Monday, 4th of January 2016, the man who works With Exxon Mobil and also a landlord of a property on the island raped a 14 year old who happened to be the niece of his tenant.
On that faithful day, the man decided to visit the home of his tenants who owed him rent. They had advised him earlier that they wouldn’t be at home and only their 14 year old niece and 3 year old daughter would be home. He knocked on their flat and was attended to by the 14 year old who told the landlord her Uncle and Aunty weren't home. He insisted on entering the home of his tenants to wait for them. The naive 14-year old girl who had only been in Lagos for 3 weeks, opened the door and let the man in.

According to the victim, he checked the visitor's toilet to confirm no one was home. He then checked the room, the wardrobe and bathroom, after not finding anyone, he started talking to the 14 year old, asking her details like her name and age.

The man, who is meant to be a responsible citizen performed a dastardly act and pushed the young girl on the bed and while she tried to scream he covered her mouth and forcefully had his way with her, in presence of the 3 year old!

In a bid to console her, he offered her N1, 000 and left.

Her aunty came home and met the young 14-year-old girl hysterical and inconsolable. The girl was unable to answer after asking her what happened repeatedly but to everyone’s amazement, it was the 3 year old who recounted the story to her mum "Mummy landlord came, he push Aunty C on the bed and he do like this like this on top of her"  innocently describing to her mum and recreating the movements she saw.

This was obviously distressing to the woman who called her husband. He rushed home and reported the incident at the police station located in Lamgbasa. The police asked for medical report, which they got the next morning. The doctor's report did confirm she was "forcefully penetrated "; the doctor on his own accord flagged the human rights office.

However, despite contact being made with the man, his employer and the police of this serious allegation, the man has not been apprehended till date.

As of 8th January 2016, he failed to report to the police station at 9am as promised instead he called the victim’s family (his tenants) repeatedly and tried to convince them to meet. His calls prior to this were threats to evict them.

We are concerned citizens saddened by the state of affairs in which numerous bodies are aware of this serious matter and the suspect is yet to be apprehended.

We feel we have no choice but to release this information to the public in the hope that the case gets the necessary attention it deserves and that the perpetrator is brought to justice.

We hope this also deters other closet pedophiles from committing such a disgusting act against women and children.
