FG reduces fuel price by 50 kobo per litre
The federal government yesterday reduced the pump price of petrol from N87 to N86.50k per litre with effect from January 1st.
In a statement signed by the executive secretary of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) Farouk Ahmed in Abuja, FG said that the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) retail stations will sell at N86 per litre, while retail outlets owned by oil marketers will sell at N86.50k per litre.
The new price follows the approval of the minister of state for petroleum resources Dr. Ibe Kachikwu. The statement adds that the new price will remain till March 31, 2016.
“This is not static; there will be a quarterly review of the pricing template. However, if there is any pricing shift, the minister of state for petroleum resources may call for a review upwards or downward depending on the market condition but for at least the first quarter of 2016 the price will be N86.50/litre while for NNPC it is N86/litre,” he said.

DON JAZZY AND D’BANJ STORM THE STAGE TOGETHER AGAIN AT ICONCUR concert
After several weeks of campaigns and media promotion, the Grafton Entertainment and DM Records iConcur Concert lighted up the city of Port Harcourt last weekend. The concert, which was scheduled for Saturday, December 19, 2015, ran through 4am of Sunday, December 20, 2015.

The lineup of performances started with PH artistes, Knowledge and Bukwild, as they thrilled their home crowd with some exciting songs. Their performance was followed by another PH girl, Tonye, who got a lot of mainstream ovation for her single, “Criminal” (and remix featuring Timaya).
The iConcur concert switched gear as more artistes like Endia, Yung L, Orezi, Runtown, Ice Prince, KCee, Oritsefemi and Stereoman took the center stage. Guests were still trying to catch their breath when another of their home boy, Mr. 2Kay stepped out. The “Bad Girl Special” singer performed with a live band and gave an outstanding performance, leading his band through some of his hit songs, including, “Who No Like Better Thing,” and “Moniegram.” It was definitely a home coming performance. The energy of the event switched up again as Timaya stepped on stage. He delivered some of his biggest songs and paused to introduce the self-acclaimed Port first son, Duncan Mighty. The latter chanted with the crowd, giving them some of the songs from his catalogue of hits. As Duncan Mighty rounded up, Timaya returned to the stage in his traditional South-south outfit to continue from where he stopped. To the amusement of the guests, he introduced Don Jazzy, who walked in indeed to perform their collaborative song titled, “I Concur”, a song that also inspired the title of the concert. Like that was not enough, the Dem Mama Records’ general called on the Koko master, D’banj to join them on stage. D’banj and Don Jazzy gave an awesome performance as the audience sang along and screamed in excitement. They performed some songs from their Mo’Hits days and engaged the crowd in an unforgettable way. Speaking after the event, Tonye Ibiama, CEO of Grafton Entertainment, who is also the co-executive producer of the event, expressed satisfaction in the production of the event and hints that 2016 is going to be bigger and hotter. The event was supported by American Honey, Campari, famous grouse, African magic, Soundcity, Trace tv, Silverbird tv, Rhythm 93.7fm, Coolfm, Wazobia, Wavefm, Raypower, AIT, NET, Tooxclusive, Notjustok, Ukalasblog, Phcitypromo, 360nobs, Phcitymusic, the Edge Hotel, Golden Tulip, Titie Hotel, Swiss international, and Elkanterrace.

El-Zakzaky’s followers charged with criminal conspiracy, remanded in custody
Some members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria have been arraigned at the Chief Magistrate Court 1, Zaria Road, Kaduna and charged with criminal conspiracy and inciting public disturbances. Their leader, Ibrahim El-zakyzaky, has been taken into custody by the army before he was released to the police for investigation. The Force Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Kolawole, on Tuesday t saidhat the Shi’ite members were being prosecuted for incitement and public disturbances among other charges. She said:
“Some Shi’ite members have been arraigned in court where they were charged with criminal conspiracy, inciting public disturbances among others; they have been remanded in prison custody and the case adjourned.”
The Shi’ite members had had a clash with the Army about two weeks ago during which about 20 persons were killed.
Woman escapes been killed by an Alfa for 'rituals' in Lagos
On Tuesday, residents of Big Daddy Street in the Atinplome, Bagadry area of Lagos State stormed an uncompleted building in the area, which they suspected to be a ritual killer’s den, after a lady ran out of the building crying for help.
It was learnt that while a carnival was going on in the area, a woman in her late 20s, whose name is unknown, ran into the party with her throat partly slashed and blood streaming down the length of her body at about 2am.
The lady, who later became unconscious told the crowd that an Alfa, identified as Mallam Sheu, had tricked her into the uncompleted structure before slitting her throat with a knife. She was rushed to the hospital and the matter reported to the Police.
It was learnt that in the morning, more residents went into the scene of the crime and they said they found bloodstains, old clothes, charms and ladies’ clothes inside the structure.
A resident who identified herself as Mummy Eso, said youths in the area attempted to burn the uncompleted building in the afternoon, because they thought that the lady had died of her injuries.
Mummy Eso a resident there said:
“There was commotion in our area in the midnight when boys holding a street party saw the girl bleeding from the throat. The girl, who just managed to speak, pointed to the structure and said an alfahad attempted to kill her, but she managed to escape.
“One of her hands had also been tampered with. So, the youths became furious and headed for the uncompleted building. Some policemen, who were also on guard duties at the carnival were informed about the incident and they went too. But information had got to the man, and he escaped before they could arrest him.
“Since morning, people have been coming to the area to check the building. They attempted to burn it in the afternoon.”
Another resident, identified as Akeem Ajao, who visited the building, said the youths found old bloodstains, clothes and charms.
He said:
“The lady ran into the carnival with blood streaming out of her body. One of those at the carnival saw her and came to her rescue. She said a man was in the house trying to slaughter her.
“We rushed the girl to a hospital, where she is now receiving treatment. We did not know that the alfa used the house to do evil works. The girl’s clothes were bloodstained. The police have also come to the area this morning.
“When I entered the house, I saw bloodstains, charms and a human bone was also in the man’s car – a Gulf 4 vehicle. It was the boys holding the carnival who noticed the girl.
“The girl’s neck was cut. Nobody knows the family of the girl involved. The man has run away from the area.”
It was gathered that the alfa had been having an affair with the lady, before he took her to the uncompleted building on the evening of the carnival.
The matter was said to have been reported at the Morogbo Police Division, and some policemen came to the scene, but the alfa had already fled the scene of the crime.
